Next Xbox To Come In Two Versions? Kinect 2 To Read Lips?

The rumor mill is churning once again. This time, word has been spreading about the sequel of Xbox 360, which has been speculated to come in two models. The first version is a pared-down set-top box that targets casual gamers, while the other model would be a bit heftier in specs and will be geared towards hardcore gamers.

Either way, the two versions of Xbox 360--which have been codenamed "Xbox 720" or "Xbox Loop"--will supposedly be paired with a revised version of Kinect motion sensor. The so-called Kinect 2 will be able to read lips, track the user's fingers, and can even sense the tone of one's voice.

The current Kinect would not be able to perform such functions because of its USB 2.0 cable, which can only transmit 16 megabytes of data per second. However, either the USB 3.0 or Intel's Thunderbolt would be able to remove such restrictions since both can transmit data at much faster rates.

As usual, we will believe it when we see it.
