How to Buy Climbing Shoes
So what are the criteria in buying the most appropriate climbing shoes?
The price of climbing shoes may not be that wallet-friendly since thay are made in small quantities by small companies, simply because this is not an all-around shoe and it caters to rock climbers. To save up money, some would buy used shoes, although this isn't recommended because a climbing shoe will conform to it's owner's foot.
The weight of a shoe will usually depend upon its construction, which will depend upon its intended use. All climbing shoes are light. By the way, a good shop will have an artificial wall in the shop for trying shoes out. You're going to buy the shoes for climbing and not for walking.
Sizes vary between brands. Find a climbing shop with a large selection that's deep in sizes. Buy the shoe in person and make sure to try on a lot of different shoes. Do not mail order your shoe size because there is a risk that your fee may not fit to the shoe you want.
Be assured that the boot on your foot is soled with the stickiest rubber known to man.
Think about what you're going to use the boot for and buy accordingly. Your choices will reflect two factors: what/where you want to climb and your ability level.
