Reviewing for Tests
Start Understanding
The very key to effective review is understanding the lesson. This means that before the actual review for the tests, you should already make the effort to understand the subject matter as it is being taught in the classroom. A better understanding of the subject matter would help you have an easier time reviewing as well as getting better grades in the upcoming test.
Practice Time Management
Problems can arise if you are expecting three or more tests two to three days from now. You can easily be overwhelmed by the amount of studying and reviewing that you need to go through. A good way to avoid getting overwhelmed and stressed is by trying to allot each subject matter equal time schedules for review. Try to figure out how much time you have left for reviewing your notes before the actual tests and then divide that time to the number of subjects or topics for review for the upcoming tests.
Inquire About Tests
To review more effectively, having an idea of what the test format would be can greatly help. You can try and ask your teacher on how the upcoming test would be given. Whether the test be essay type or require problem solving, try to pattern your review according to the test format you expect.
You might need to memorize facts if the test requires identifying dates, terms or specific events. You might need to practice solving sample problems if the upcoming test would require answering a number of similar problem questions. A better understanding of the subject matter would be required if you wish to ace that essay test. Just make sure that you try to study according to how the tests would be given by your teacher in order to save time and effort.
