Reaching a Target Audience through Craigslist

More and more people are checking out Craigslist, a community-based classified advertisement website. People can easily find just about any item or service within their local area, making it a great venue to post your own classifieds. But before you place your offers, you have to make sure that your price is in line with what your competition is offering. Here are what you can do to find your competitor's classified advertisement on Craigslist.

Visit your local Craigslist - If you are visiting the site for the first time, you would encounter a list of cities and countries where Craigslist is offered. Click on your state, which would lead you to a list of cities and areas. Click the area or district where you are closest at.

Check out the competition - If you know any specific competitors, type one of them into the "Search Craigslist" box and check what they offer. Repeat the same procedure to other competitors. If you have no idea about your competition, simply click the product or service that you plan on offering and check out the classifieds posted.

Search for competition - Type in the heading of your own advertisement into the search box and see if this is offered by other companies. You can specify the category of your search in the drop-down menu just below the search box. Make sure to view the different categories on the page to see who else is listed. Also, check out the event calendar on the left-hand side of your page if you want to see what your competitor is up to on a specific day you are holding an event.

Create your own classified ad - Once you have an idea about how the competition offers their product and service to visitors, think of different marketing strategies that would make your offer more irresistible to consumers such as lower price or added value.
