Learning a Foreign Language
All learners have different styles of learning languages. Some learners like listening and talking, others prefer to analyze text or study with the help of visual support. The important thing is to choose the learning method that best suits you. Here is a list of learning methods:
Learn on your own; courses combining textbooks and audio recordings, video, or CD-ROMs and DVDs; video courses with accompanying workbooks; computer-assisted language learning materials; and foreign films.
Surf the Web. There are lots of Internet sites offering lessons in foreign languages. You can also organize your own chat with other language learners, read and write online Web logs and take part in online discussions on specific topics.
Learn with a teacher. There are language classes available for adults that often take place during the evening; correspondence courses, where a teacher is available to correct work and assess progress via e-mail; and foreign language immersions where almost one hundred percent of class time is spent in the foreign language. Also, you can learn form friendships with native speakers.
