Show the numbers

It will help your chances of getting promoted if you can show your boss specific results. Make a documentation showing how your excellent ideas have helped the company.

This can be particularly useful when the person you are dealing with does not have the authority to give you a promotion. If he or she has to stand on your behalf with your boss, you must give the best weapon you can.

Ask for more responsibilities

When pitching for a promotion, it is best to tell your superior you are ready to take on additional responsibilities. This will show that you are prepared to deal with a more complicated or larger workload and are not just drooling over a fatter paycheck and bigger office. Try to go beyond and above the call of duty. Report to your duty early and stay a few minutes late. Come up with excellent and creative solutions to problems that have not been addressed yet.
