There are various kinds of Christmas trees. Contrary to what other people believe, it is not limited to one type only. Just like the different choices that we make when we go for shopping, we also definitely do the same in selecting the trees that we think we want for the holidays.
Today, there are several type of Christmas trees that we hear of. But since we want what we think is the best, we tend to know which ones are on the best sellers list. And among these are the following:
- Douglas fir
- Noble fir
- Fraser fir
- Balsam fir
- Scotch pine
- Virginia pine
- White pine
Characteristics we may prefer
These are the most common kinds of Christmas trees that people prefer to buy today. Of course, since it has been embedded in our culture to celebrate the holidays with such a tree in our house, especially one that we truly like, we have to choose it with care.
If you are after the fragrance, you may go for the Fraser and Balsam firs. The Fraser fir has flexible, upward-pointing needles that retains it shape. It also has a bluish-green color. Meanwhile, the needles of the Balsam fir are dark green.
However, if you want to choose size, you can go for the White pine. Like the Fraser fir, it is also flexible and has bluish-green needles. But its scent is not the same as the Balsam fir or the Fraser fir.
Other types of popular Christmas trees
Deodara Cedar
This has bluish-green needles and is short. Traditionally, its wood is used for building temples in Asia and was used by Egyptians in making coffins for mummies.
Eastern Red Cedar
With leaves that are sticky to the touch, this kind of tree is shiny and dark green in color. Also, it has a good scent.
Leland Cypress
The colors of its leaves range from dark green to gray. This is best for people who are allergic to Christmas trees. Additionally, the leaves are light-scented and looks feathery.
