Great Family Christmas Project Ideas
Christmas as a family celebration is quickly being forgotten. Nowadays, families are separated during Christmas festivities. Each has his/her own party to go to.
Parents spend their occasion with their workmates and other grownups. The teens go to cool parties with other young adults and the children are cared for by babysitters or sent to spend Christmas with grandparents.
Christmas is a time for families. And families should spend Christmas together. Here are a few activities that you can enjoy doing together as family this holiday season.
Decorate for the holidays together
Take out your Christmas lights and lanterns and decorate your house. Your teens can help you put these up. As for the younger ones, let them help you out by allowing them to put up decorations they themselves made such as strings of popcorns or little cutouts of the Nativity scene, Christmas school projects, store-bought candy canes, etc.
The whole family can also make personal Christmas decorations and ornaments, as well as greeting cards, homemade wrapping papers, etc.
Go out for spin
Take the whole family out to see Christmas lights and decorations around town. Later on, you can go pick out your Christmas tree. Make an announcement that everybody is going to help decorate the tree this year.
Make baked goodies together
Everyone, young and old, enjoy baked sweets. Your whole family can spend time baking cookies, making fudge and candies or a gingerbread house and decorating them together. Even the kids can get involved, under your supervision of course.
You can also make your favorite hot chocolate or eggnog. They can serve as your snacks while doing your family activities.
Family activities
You can rent your favorite holiday movies and watch them together. Or you can go out and watch a Christmas play. You can also go caroling as a family. Or, if you prefer a cozier and more solemn family activity, you can read Christmas stories together.
To make the kids feel important, assign them the task of counting down to Christmas. You can help them make their own board to write the date on and how many days are left before Christmas day.
