Packing for College Checklist

One of the milestones that you might want to look forward to is sending your kid off to college. Just imagine, you won't have to clean up after him or maybe even wash his clothes. You won't pay extra for the electric bill because his video game nights will be spent somewhere else other than your house. It will be a very good thing for you to finally have your kid experience the real world in his own way.

For most college kids, this is the very first time that they will be living away from their homes so you should make the necessary preparations that will ensure your kid will have a worry-free transition to campus dormitory life. Here is a list of things that you should print out for your teenager.

Extra money

This includes pocket money for extra expenses that your child will have for the semester. This will probably amount to $500 for general expenses. The textbooks will probably need around $300 per semester so you might want to add that to your list of expenses for your child.

College paperwork

All necessary papers, identifications and forms should be brought by your teenager. That includes any correspondences that you might have received from the university as well as your financial aid plans.

Organizer

This is one of the things that should be included in your kid's must-bring items. Whether it is a daily planner or the calendar in his electronic organizer, your teen will need this in order to keep track of his new schedules, appointments as well as assignments.

Appliances and other electronics

Your child is living in a technological age. Staples of studying now include a desktop or laptop computer, telephones-both mobile and landlines, refrigerators where he can stock up on those caffeine-filled coffee drinks for those long nights of studying and other electronic essentials.

Toiletries

Just because your teen already lives away from your house doesn't mean that he won't need the necessary toiletries to keep him from being a slob on his own. Be sure that your child doesn't forget the first-aid kit as well as the other necessities for his independent life.

These are just but a few things that you need your child to bring during his last day in your house. It will all pay off as it will eventually help him have a smooth and hassle-free transition from high school life to college life.
