Trade Show Success Strategies
So you are planning to include your company at a trade show, but you have no idea what to do during the event. You may also have been participating at events, but you only get a few people even though your booth is very much accessible. Here are some tips that you can use for a better yield of potential clients.
Stand up often – Give passersby an impression that you are enthusiastic about your product or service.
Don’t chew gum – It may help you relax, but being in a professional event while chewing gum is much like a loafer lounging on a couch.
Try not to talk too much to booth staffers – This makes you appear unapproachable.
Approach only passersby who make eye contact – People who do not look at you or your booth are not looking for a reason. Remember that you can only speak to as many people at the event, so utilize your precious time wisely.
Giveaways should be relevant to your business – Don’t give something away for free just for the sake of giving it away. If you are a wedding coordinator, collecting 10,000 names for raffling off a plasma TV has nothing to do with your profession. These 10,000 names only mean 10,000 non-qualified leads. Instead, you could try collecting business cards in exchange for free DVDs about “Tips on Creating an Unforgettable Wedding at an Affordable Price.”
Dress slightly better – Make sure to put on a professional look, but not in a way that would intimidate people. If you’re attending an event where most of the attendees are engineers, don’t wear a three-piece suit. Your attire should be slightly better than what you believe attendees will be wearing.
