Alternative Fuel of The Future

General activity all over the world gets busier and busier. More and more new industries and technologies are build up and developed in order to pave the way for the advancement of the human species. But along with the continuing development and advancement, the need for fuel just keeps on increasing.

Fuel requirements of the world at large today far more exceeds what was required during the last century. Oil is considered as the world's main fuel source that runs the human machinery for development and advancement.

Although the oil supply may be found to still be sufficient to run industries all around the globe, there is also a growing concern that the present world oil fuel supply may already have peaked out and may already be dwindling. Scientists cannot accurately say just how long would the current world oil supply last and, at best, provide only a very rough estimate that may not even be that promising to hear.

That is why the economies of the world have decided on trying to discover the next alternative fuel source in place of oil in the event that supplies would run short. Scientists from all over the world have made their studies and look at possible sources that may hold some promise and a bright future as well as prevent the global community from collapsing due to the scarcity of fuel supplies in the future. Here are some included in the list for possible alternative fuel sources.

The Sun

People today have become accustomed to solar power as it has already been used in a lot of gadgets today. Solar power continues to be a popular alternative fuel source that many scientists believe help supply the fuel needs of the future.

The technology to convert solar energy into electricity have been with us for a long time now so it won't be a surprise for people to have keen interest in developing solar power from the sun as the possible fuel alternative.

The advantages of solar energy is that it requires no other fuel to run and is mainly pollution free. But there are also certain drawbacks. Among them is the high initial cost of setting up solar power plants. Another is the need for large spaces in order to better harness the energy of the sun to provide power. The production efficiency of solar power may also be dependent at times to factors such as pollution and weather.

Wind

Many countries today have already started on harnessing the wind to provide their power needs, albeit it may still be on a small scale. Another known source of clean alternative energy, the wind may be able to provide certain energy needs but only to a certain extent.

Wind power may be enough to power the whole world into the future simply because wind may not be that consistent day today. The problem is that wind doesn't always blow. Right now scientists are developing other ways to harness this clean energy by creating floating power stations high up in the sky where winds blow stronger and at more consistent levels.

Nuclear Power

For some people, radioactive matter may be considered as the fuel of the future. But certain disadvantages such as producing harmful radiation and toxic wastes may not make them that attractive enough for most people to accept. The radioactive material that is produced by generating nuclear power can last for thousands of years and can undermine the safety of the world's ecosystems
