Hiring Foreign National Employees

Businesses and firms today need to stay competitive. Because of this, there is a growing demand for recruiting international talent from other countries.

The international talent pool is now teeming with so many qualified and able applicants that there are more people who want to get into a job in the United States more than there are firms who want to hire foreign students or employees.

However, after the September 11 incident in New York students now are battling with an even tighter immigration policy and international students, whether they come from a terrorist-laden country or not, are finding it more and more difficult to get into America.

One of the first and foremost obstacles ultimately begin with the company because there aren't too many companies who are willing to sponsor people for work visas.

Because of the student graduate's lack of understanding and knowledge of the U.S. job search process, these people eventually find out that they have to worry about this during the interview process. Because of this, more time is spent and a lot of people then leave confused as ever.

There is an even worse problem that these applicants need to worry about. There are a great number of employers who are quite reluctant to hire international students for the simple reason that international student lack the necessary knowledge in dealing with the various legal issues, expenses as well as the essential paperwork that is needed in the hiring process.

A survey by Harris Interactive revealed that about 30% of companies said that they would not hire a qualified foreign national who needed immediate sponsorship for an H-1B visa. The rest of the demographics were split between not hiring such a student and not knowing whether to hire such a student.

This particular survey greatly affects the international talent pool simply because there will always be more people who are wanting to work in the United States.

This particular demand will eventually impact the global competitiveness of the United States because various career services have a good future because of the different experiences and expertise that can be found in the international talent pool.

If there are qualified and talented people who are being left out by the U.S. more countries will be able to find better talent. But for those who are specifically applying for the U.S. they will probably have to try their luck elsewhere or in another time.
