Dixie Chicks Biography

The Dixie Chicks are a Grammy Award winner country rock band from the United States composed of three women: Emily Robison, Martie Maguire and Natalie Maines. They are the highest-selling female band in any musical genre.

The group formed in 1989 in Dallas, Texas and had a first taste of success in the late 1990s. The women became well-known for their lively persona, instrumental virtuosity, soaring ballads, fashion sense and outspoken political comments. As of 2007, they have won 13 Grammy Awards.

At the 49th Grammy Awards Show in 2007, the group won all five categories for which they were nominated, including the coveted Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Album of the Year.

In 2003, many radio stations banned playing the Dixie Chicks music and fans smashed their cds. This all stemmed from Natalie's comment about the President.

The "Not Ready To Make Nice" video set the record for most consecutive weeks at #1 on VH1's Top 20 countdown. The video spent 13 consecutive weeks at #1.

The Chicks made a Christmas record with two songs on it called "Christmas Swing" and "The Flip Side".
