Safari Browser for Beginners
Apple computers have been perceived as having a world on its own. It has its own office application suite called iWork, it lets you create your own home movies with ease through iMovie, and it also runs on its own web browser called Safari, which has been touted as the world's fastest browser because it loads faster-even on Javascript-compared to other brands. Recently, Windows version of Safari was released and its users are very much satisfied with its ease of use and reliability.
If you have been using the Internet's top browsers like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, you will get used to Safari quickly. However, Safari does have its share of advantages towards its competition that you may find handy.
Fast loading time - Apple brags the Safari as the fastest web browser on any platform, as it loads Web pages up to twice as fast than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.7 times faster than Firefox 2. Meanwhile, Safari executes up to 6 times faster than IE7 and up to 4 times faster than Firefox 2. This means that you spend less time waiting for pages to load and more time enjoying the World Wide Web.
Advanced tab browsing - Many web browsers now offer tab browsing wherein you can fit several pages in just one window as they are organized by tabs, but what Safari sets itself apart is that you can also drag the tabs to reorder them, even moving them between windows or creating new windows.
Pro-Web user interface - The windows of the Safari browser appears really sleek and elegant. Its frame only measures one pixel and does not have a scroll bar by default (only appearing when you move your mouse cursor to the side). You also do not see a status bar by default, but you see a progress bar filling the address box as the page loads. It also does not see the need for more clunky toolbars (which you may have been "forced" to download on other browsers), giving more space for the Web page rather than the browser.
Easy bookmarking - Safari has an innovative way of organizing bookmarks. A single click opens the single-window interface wherein you can browse, search, and organize bookmarks just like how you would organize music in iTunes. Compare that to other browsers that only provide a list of sites you have bookmarked and nothing more. Safari also lets you import all your bookmarks from the browsers you have been using, and even helps you find sites to bookmark.
Easier find function - Finding a text on any Web page using Safari has got to be the most convenient and user-friendly. Instead of having to browse through one match onto the next, Safari highlights all matching terms while dimming the page below them.
Snapback - If you use the Internet too often for researching, you know how easy it is to lose your way especially if you have browsed through several pages. You end up hitting the Back button several times, waiting for the pages to load each time, just to go back to your starting point. Safari solves that by the Snapback function. An icon of an arrow that turns from right to left appears in the search field after you click a link in a search results page. Clicking on that icon takes you back to the results page and even scrolls to the specific locations you last viewed.
Resizable text areas - If you find a certain Web page a little hard-to-read or too overwhelming to browse because of the size of its texts, Safari solves it by having you drag the corner of the area and resize the page automatically.
Private browsing - Perhaps the biggest feature that Safari has is the private browsing, wherein it does not store your searches, cookies, history of the sites you have visited and what you have downloaded, and information from online forms that you have filled out.
Advanced color and font management - Another feature unique to Safari is that each page appears to come into life because of its advanced color management, delivering the most accurate color possible. Safari also makes text beautiful and easy-to-read because it automatically renders each font. It even automatically downloads custom fonts as you need them.
