How The Internet Changed Communication

It cannot be denied that the Information Superhighway, commonly known as the Internet, has made a great impact on out lives today. And the impact that it has created has reached into the different parts of the globe. What the Internet has done to the lives of humans cannot be summed up into one sentence since it has affected quite a number of aspects of life in general in way that a few may have expected. It is really something to marvel at.

It is so surprising that the Internet has its origins as a tool to help academics and researchers to reach out, communicate and share information with each other. Somewhere along the way, someone may have imagined just how big such a network can become and shared it with others until quite a number came to believe on what far reaching influence such a network can have on the lives of people who use it as well as the society in general. And hence, such a network was developed and was embraced by more and more people until it rapidly grew into a network that included not only universities and communities in a country. As it grew, it came to include the whole world that eventually became a single community, thanks to the Internet.

What has this world wide network done for us? Well, the outcome can be seen as both good and bad. Although people may think that the Internet has still a lot to go in terms of changing human lives, in the short span that it has been in place, it has already achieved quite a lot. For one, the Internet has made the world a smaller place to live in. the power of communication that the Internet brought with it, made people from different locations all over the world connect with each other and be able to share information that would have been quite impossible to do through other means.

The sharing of information also became more valuable in the sense that it allowed people to acquire knowledge from a source that can be made available at a click of a button. Prior to the Internet, information sharing was quite a limited endeavor where it would be very difficult for anyone to obtain valuable and essential information or data that came from the other side of the globe. With an information network in place such as that established by the Internet, hard-to-get information just became easier and more convenient to obtain.

With the advent of the Internet, human interaction on a global scale just got easier. People now have the means to interact with other people or nationalities from the far side of the world. An American may now be able to speak to a relative stranger from somewhere in Africa and learn from each other's culture and way of life in order to foster a better understanding and gain better insight of the world situation in general. No longer do people have to be ignorant of what is happening on the other side of the world. Through the Internet, anyone now has the ability to know what is happening anywhere in the world, right from the source of it all, in just a click of a mouse.
