Wire connections

Wire connections use cables and certain devices like hubs, switches and routers.

On wired connections, if it is speed and reliability that you opt for, you may prefer the Ethernet. It even allows networking even with three computers or more. USBs can be used to connect to computers.

On the other hand, as it is utilized only in Microsoft Windows users, the serial or parallel connections can also be used. Used only to connect not more than two computers, this may be a bit slow, but it is as efficient as the Ethernet and if there are only USB cables available. You can use this is you are not after the speed.

USB cables specially designed for connecting computers have to be used. Ordinary ones might pose risks on your computer. This can be used if Ethernet adapters are unavailable.

Basically, utilizing devices like Ethernet devices like hubs, network switches or routers, USB hubs, and a phone line with a powerwall outlet can be used to make such a connection.

Wireless connection

Since there have been technological innovations on computer devices, wireless connections have become a possibility.

Wi-Fi, also known as wireless fidelity. Computers or present laptops with this capability connect two computers no matter the distance.

Bluetooth technology. Though unlike the Wi-Fi, devices such a technology functions better if they are within close range with each other. Modern cellular phones are now fixed with this capability.

Infra-red technology. It is as fast as it is easy to set up. This appeared before Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology.
