Action figures become more than just toys in the eye of a serious collector. They become good collectibles. Aside from having the privilege of playing with such toys, action figure collecting has become a legitimate hobby for kids and adults alike.

Collecting action figures as a hobby may require that one be able to know how to effectively care for them. As collecting is usually a long term hobby, collectors may find themselves having a cabinet full of action figure collectibles after a certain period of time. In order to take care of their value, a collector must know how to take care of each one to keep them look shiny and in good condition.

In due time, your action figure collection may gather dust if not taken cared of. Every collection should be properly stored and maintained in order to help keep them in good condition. This also goes to those action figures that may already have been taken out of their cases. There are ways in order to keep them in good condition.

One way of keeping your action figures in good condition is to prevent them from accumulating dust. If you have loose action figures (those that have been taken out of their cases), a thorough scrubbing to remove the grime in them. But make sure that you don't scratch them. Using a mixture of liquid soap and water with a soft cloth will do. Make sure that before you store back your action figures, you already have removed the excess water from them by vigorously shaking them and drying them with a towel. Let them stand for a few hours to dry out the remaining moisture.

After you have cleaned your action figures, it will be better if you store them properly in a dust-free environment if possible. There are many ways that you can do this. If you still have the original casing of your toys, then it would be a good place for them to store in. if not, you may use a zip-loc type bag to place your action figures in to keep them from accumulating dust. There are such types of plastic bags made specially for hobbyists that you can get at some hobby stores.

If you wish to put them in individual plastic cases, there are such containers that you can get at hobby, hardware and even at electronic stores. These plastic cases are usually made of high impact plastic and with fronts that swing open. These cases are usually available in several sizes. This way you may be able to place your individually packed action figures stacked nicely in cabinets and you may be able to easily transport them from one place to another.

You can also have your action figures stacked nicely in cardboard boxes if you lack the necessary space from which to display them. The durable plastic casing will help protect your toys from damage and keep them in good condition for a long time.
