Indiana Jones Movie Series
Indiana Jones is a successful film franchise consisting to date of four movie releases. The film starred Harrison Ford in the starring role as an adventurous archaeologist out to look for valuable ancient artifacts. Its main director is Steven Spielberg. Other stars that appeared on the popular movie franchise include Sean Connery, River Phoenix, Kate Capshaw, John Rhys-Davies, Cate Blanchett, Shia LaBeouf, John Hurt and Ray Winstone.
Plot Summaries
The Indiana Jones films follow the exploits of an adventurous treasure hunter cum archaeologist. The first film, Raiders of the Lost Ark has the protagonist go against Nazi soldiers in search for the lost Ark of the Covenant. Jones travels around the world in order to prevent the Nazis from getting their hands on the Lost Ark.
In the second movie installment, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, is a prequel to the first movie. Set in 1935 and mostly taking place in India, the movie took on a more horror-based story where Jones tries to recover children and obtain a Sankara stone from a dangerous Thuggee cult.
The third film, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, introduces Jones' father to the audience. Set this time in 1938, Jones went to look for his father, who was reported lost while searching for the Holy Grail. Indiana Jones was once again pitted against the Nazi soldiers who were also looking for the same artifact. Aside from looking for the whereabouts of his father, Jones also has to prevent the Holy Grail from getting into the hands of the Nazi mystics.
The fourth film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, is the franchise's latest movie. The movie, released in May of 2008, was set in 1957 where Jones was against the Soviets this time, preventing them from harnessing the power of an ancient artifact, the Crystal Skull. Indiana Jones also meets his own son when Jones meets his old flame and divulges the secret.
