Frank Miller Profile
Frank Miller is both a comic book writer and an artist. He was born on January 27, 1957. During his tenure as a writer, he was able to create Martha Washington, the ever popular black and white comic book, Sin City and most notably, Elektra which had been already produced into a Hollywood movie.
Along with his peer, Alan Moore, he is responsible for the birth of the dark and grim comic book with the graphic novel, "The Dark Knight Returns," which he wrote as well as illustrated. This has been said to be one of the best and most epic Batman tales of all time.
Before his success with Batman, Frank Miller had some experience with writing for the movies as he wrote Robocop 2 and 3. After this, he promised himself that he would never have any of his work made into films. After a long-standing promise to himself, he eventually gave in as he saw Robert Rodriguez' short film which was entitled "The Customer Is Always Right". When Miller saw that it was doable for his work, Sin City, he eventually agreed to do a film for it.
Frank Miller was quite successful for his run at the Batman series in DC Comics. The Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Year One was Frank Miller's crowning glory as it ushered in a new way of storytelling which catered mostly to mature audiences. Because of his gritty and brooding type of portrayal of the Batman character, this essentially was a new thing that the comic book fans experienced. The comic book titles that Miller wrote continually sold exceptionally well for the past twenty years.
After that Miller went to the publisher Dark Horse for the rest of his future projects. This happened simply because there was a scuffle regarding the censorship of particular material in the comics. Dark Horse was given the chance to publish the Sin City series by Miller and it later developed into the brooding and evil town of Basin City or "Sin City" to those who lived in it.
Miller portrayed a Batman who eventually ends up squaring off with the Al-Qaeda. He has been able to continually exhibit his creativity as well as his love for the Batman character. Frank Miller will not just be remembered for his body of work but he will also be remembered for his style of storytelling and artistry as well.
