Alex Ross Profile
Alex Ross is one of the best known artists in the comic book industry today. He was born on January 22, 1970 and works as an artist and painter for various comic books.
Some of the work in comic books and comic book characters that he did were the redesigning of the characters in the Kingdom Come and Earth X plots. He also created the Astro City comic book which was a title which he was quite famous for.
One of the things that he was really famous for is his style of art which depicts a highly detailed and realistic type of painting. He achieves this by frequently hiring models for photo reference or simply getting a hold of different friends or relatives in order to dress them up in costume just so he can get the lighting and the shadows of the creases just right.
Alex Ross first started work as a penciller for different companies. He also had some cover jobs as well. Although his work on "Marvels" with accomplished writer Kurt Busiek was the one that spearheaded him into the mainstream of the comic book industry.
Their tandem brought about the comic book, Astro City which is a tale of the Marvel Universe which was told through the eyes of an average citizen. This tale that was visited in the Astro City was borne during the inception of the title Marvels.
When Alex Ross started with the series Kingdom Come which was a hopeless alternative future of the DC Universe which he with writer Mark Waid which was one of the more famous works of Ross, he was able to make his mark.
Alex Ross, through his ingenious and ambitious paintings and drawings was able to re-design several of the characters that are in the book. These characters in Kingdom Come were eventually awarded with the recognition when the book was awarded an Eisner Award for both Ross and writer Waid.
As a comic book artist, Alex Ross was able to rise as a premiere icon in the field. He was able to finish different works such as "Superman: Peace on Earth" for DC as well as "Earth X" for Marvel.
As of the moment, Alex Ross still continues to draw covers for comic books for different projects and titles. The downside to this is that he's only able to draw cover because of the time-consuming nature of his work.
